Broadway Stages President Supports Staten Island's Goodhue Center

The Children's Aid Society Goodhue Center in Staten Island has served hundreds of families since 1912. The Center, which is situated one of the largest greenspaces on Staten Island, has outdoor facilities, including ball fields, gardens, open spaces, and a pool. Created with the purpose of educating children through after-school programs, as well as raising nutritional awareness through activities and exercise, the Center provides youth and families with opportunities to learn and enrich their lives.

Broadway Stages financially supports the Goodhue Center and their enrichment programs that benefit families on Staten Island. The Center offers a variety of activities including a robotics club, sports teams, summer camps and more. Broadway Stages Supports Students at Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School

The Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School (CGPS) commits itself to a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum that allows students to enjoy the full depth of academic excellence across school programs. The school aims to fundamentally develop students' critical thinking, character development, and good standards of conduct.

At CGPS's annual Columbia on Ice event, President of Broadway Stages Gina Argento showed her support by purchasing sponsored tickets for students and faculty. She believes every student and faculty member who wishes to attend and have fun ice skating should be able to without financial burdens. Supporting opportunities like these is an incredible experience for Gina, who loves to share the success of Broadway Stages with the New York community.

Broadway Stages CEO Donates to Kingsborough's Annual Homecoming Celebration

Kingsborough Community College celebrates its alumni and their achievements each year at its annual homecoming celebration. At the 13th Annual Homecoming Day Celebration, commonly known as the Back to the Beach celebration, Kingsborough invited past scholars to reconnect with friends and professors.

Highlights from the celebration included live entertainment, arts and crafts, photo booths, contests, carnival snacks, and of course the crowning of the homecoming king and queen. Gina Argento, board member for Kingsborough Community College and CEO of Broadway Stages, was amazed by the enormous turnout and wonderful success of the event. Gina donated to the event to show her support, and as expected the diligently planned activities were amazingly popular with attendees. There could not have been a better day to bring together scholars and model citizens to celebrate them as the leaders of tomorrow.

Broadway Stages Is Excited to Support the Community-Word Project in 2018

The Community-Word Project (CWP) inspires thousands of young students in numerous communities to explore and develop their creative arts. The CWP focuses on providing New York children with a stimulating arts curriculum to encourage self development while integrating critical discovery of personal art and personal learning.

The sponsored classroom programs collaborate with visual artists, writers, musicians, photographers, and theater performers, making sure that students can participate in a variety of art forms to expand their creative nature. In fact, each student is able to intimately engage in and explore different forms of art thanks to the student-to-teacher 6-1 ratio central to CWP learning styles. The CWP ultimately seeks to build a community for young people to learn and contribute to the New York arts scene.

Gina Argento, President of Broadway Stages, seeks to enrich the artistic education of over 2,500 students across 22 schools. She is excited to have helped support the project, which has positively impacted students for 19 years. Her sponsorship of the annual CWP benefit Writing Our Future helped raise over $160,000 from the New York community. This year's amazing dedication from community members propels CWP to reach even more students and schools. Gina is excited that more students will receive high-quality artistic education lessons this year and hopes you can join her and the CWP community to reach even more students next year.

Broadway Stages President Contributes to St. Francis Genovesi Scholarship

Gina Argento, CEO of Broadway Stages, is excited to add the St. Francis Genovesi Scholarship to the list of sponsored scholarships to which she contributes. Believing in providing students with access to quality educational resources, Gina wishes to eliminate or significantly reduce financial barriers to educational opportunities for students.

One of the most effective ways she has found to address this is by contributing to school-sponsored scholarships such as the St. Francis Genovesi Scholarship. Recipients of the scholarship will be able to subsidize tuition or related costs like textbooks. Scholarships are highly beneficial because they lessen students' financial uncertainty, allowing them to solely focus on their academic studies. She is enthusiastic to continue to contribute to St. Francis scholarships, as she has done in the past, and looks forward to continue working with St. Francis for the benefit of its students.

Broadway Stages Helps Students Create Little Free Libraries

Students from the Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design (WHSAD) have embraced their desire to learn and spread their love of reading by creating Little Free Libraries.

Little Free Libraries are small boxes open to all members of the community to exchange, take, and donate books. The Little Free Libraries are community-run library outposts that encourage the sharing of reading materials. This initiative will help inspire students to read and learn more about various subjects such as math, science, history, and more!

Gina Argento, President of Broadway Stages, donated materials and resources needed to complete the Little Free Libraries. Gina has donated to similar projects that encourage learning with books, including the Story Book Voyager. She wants to help provide students with a medium to share and inspire each other to pursue greater knowledge. Helping the WHSCAD build Little Free Libraries for students was an opportunity she could not pass up!

Broadway Stages Supports the Life Audrey Johnson Learning Center Toy Drive

The Life Audrey Johnson Learning Center is an amazing Brooklyn-based childcare organization teaching children aged 2 to 5 years old. Regularly teaching 60 students at a time, the day care center’s small teaching group helps personalize each student's learning experience and provide a personal touch to child development.

This Christmas, the day care center asked the community to support its toy drive for its students. Wishing to make a difference for the benefit of the kindergarten students, Gina Argento, President of Broadway Stages, contributed to the day care's toy drive. She donated toy cars, coloring books, dolls, action figures, and much more. Each student happily selected his or her gift of choice and was excited to play with it! Gina was happy to see children receive the gifts they wanted and hopes they enjoy the rest of their Christmas presents.

Broadway Stages Congratulates St. Ignatius School on its 23rd Anniversary

St. Ignatius School (SIS) empowers students in the South Bronx to succeed in their academic careers as part of the school's drive for encouraging personal wellbeing.

The middle school structures its main curriculum around seven subjects: English, writing, mathematics, social studies, science, religion, and music. The school also offers a range of daily extracurricular activities in the form of after-school clubs that satisfy diverse interests ranging from anime, film, and photography to math, fitness, and leadership. SIS attends to the academic, creative, and physical wellbeing of its students.

Gina Argento, President of Broadway Stages, would like to congratulate the St. Ignatius School for supporting, educating, and benefitting the students of the South Bronx by providing quality educational programs for over two decades. To show her support for the SIS community, Gina has made a financial contribution to sponsor a student of the SIS community. She hopes that her donation will benefit the academic and personal growth of the student and others to come. Broadway Stages Supports Long Island Girl Talk's Fifth Annual Holiday Benefit Party

Long Island Girl Talk (LIGT) is an enrichment program designed for teen girls to dive deep into creating their own media content. Providing onsite training in all aspects of film and television production, LIGT assists teens in developing their own unique style and independence in media creations. Moreover, LIGT staffers train girls to develop longstanding relationships with one another beyond the scope of operating camera gear or editing software. The goal of the program is to enrich teen lives emotionally and socially in addition to boosting their future careers in media. 

As a woman in New York's film and television industry herself, Broadway Stages President Gina Argento is inspired by LIGT's mission. Naturally, as one of the few woman CEOs in the industry, Gina supports training young women in media, but more importantly she appreciates the organization's push for the women to support each other.

LIGT's dedication to girls pursuing media has inspired Gina to become a supporter and sponsor to its fifth annual Holiday Benefit Party. The event on December 16 at Nassau Community College is to generate donations from the public to supply the girls with new equipment and program activities. Contributions made by Gina and Broadway Stages will be used by LIGT to directly improve learning resources, allowing the students to pursue even greater success in media. Gina is excited to see young, aspiring women join the industry and cannot wait for the future of film and TV in New York City.

Broadway Stages Supports Kingsborough Community College's Annual Fundraiser

A proud member of the Kingsborough Community College (KCC) community, Broadway Stages has contributed tremendous efforts to support the success of Kingsborough students. Whether the task at hand was to establish scholarships, help fund and build a new Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) lab, or support the Seaside Splash event, Broadway Stages has always risen to the occasion and continuously supported KCC in establishing, maintaining, and promoting the highest quality and standards of education for KCC students.

Most recently, Gina Argento, Board Member of Kingsborough Community College and President of Broadway Stages, has participated in KCC's Annual Fund Campaign. The Annual Fund Campaign is an initiative that distributes financial donations from members of the community who wish to support KCC and students in the pursuit of educational and academic excellence. The funds are used to create and establish new educational programing, maintain current programing, update current technologies, and establish scholarships to provide financial assistance. 

Broadway Stages's support of KCC's Annual Fund directly impacts the lives of many undergraduate scholars at KCC. As a financial contributor to the fund, Broadway Stages has helped KCC students treat patients in hospitals, provide programming for KCC students to learn about software and electrical engineering, and helped KCC students become mentors in their own communities. Most importantly, Broadway Stages's contributions have created a platform for KCC to encourage its students to plan, achieve, and surpass their academic and professional goals. We believe that student success can only benefit the Brooklyn community, and we encourage fellow students to make their dreams come true.

Broadway Stages and North Brooklyn Boat Club Provide Environmental Education

Row, row, row your boat! That was exactly what 100 fourth-grade students did down the Newtown Creek advised by staff from the North Brooklyn Boat Club (NBBC). The boat ride at Broadway Stages' Boatyard is part of an educational program designed to teach students about the history of the creek and how to keep it clean for the future.

The local creek was once a high-density highway for transportation between New Jersey and New York and a common destination for dumping waste. It eventually became a Superfund site marked for environmental cleanup. However since then, in part thanks to the Newtown Creek wastewater treatment facility and increasing awareness and government intervention, it has become considerably cleaner and safer. Though the water has significantly improved, there is a continuous need to educate locals and boost communal efforts to prevent it from reverting back to how it was.

As a Brooklyn business, Broadway Stages believes that it is part of our duty to the Brooklyn community to increase awareness about the environmental importance of the iconic creek. Believing it is important for future generations to appreciate and preserve the natural ecology of our shared creek, Broadway Stages wishes to improve the Newtown Creek for all Brooklynites to enjoy and works to achieve that dream by setting up educational programs with NBBC. By working with NBBC, Broadway Stages has invited many Brooklynites, with a focus on students, to come to the Broadway Stages Boatyard to learn about the ecology of the Newtown Creek.

Leading the success of the partnership program between NBBC and Broadway Stages are the fun but educational teaching methods. To allow students to thoroughly enjoy the creek, staffers take them on 12-man boat trips down the creek to experience firsthand the amazing ecology of the creek, in the hopes of inspiring them to preserve its current state and work to improve it even more in the future.

Broadway Stages and NBBC hope to restore the Newtown Creek to its natural beauty completely and can only do it with the help of Brooklynites of the next generation. Let's keep Brooklyn clean and eco-friendly!

Broadway Stages Supports Kingsborough Community College's Homecoming Event

Broadway Stages was happy to help Kingsborough Community College (KCC) celebrate its annual homecoming themed event for its 13th year. The school welcomed over 800 alums and guests back to the halls where they earned their undergraduate degrees. The event lets alums reunite with past professors, see old classmates, share memories, and above all else enjoy an evening of fun with fellow KCC students, alumni, staff, and family.

With the event expanding throughout the atrium all the way to the garden outside, the venue was full of laughter, smiles, and uncontainable excitement. KCC was not shorted in the entertainment department either, with the venue full of rows upon rows of fun booths. A range of music, dance, games, and pumpkin patch booths aligned themselves endlessly around the perimeter of the atrium and open garden space. Of course, attendees appropriately dressed up in Halloween costumes, adding to the fun atmosphere of the amazing event.

Kingsborough trustee Gina Argento, President of Broadway Stages, greatly supports the annual event. She believes the event is important to cultivate school spirit and is a great opportunity for families in the community to come together for a day of fun. To help make the event happen, Gina's donations were directly used to purchase food, drinks, gifts, and decor. Gina was excited to see so many attendees this year, many with their families, to celebrate the incredible success they had as students of KCC and their continued success as alumni. Gina believes KCC is an important educational institution that has given many the resources to secure incredible futures and will continue to change many more lives.
