Spotlight | NYC Audubon Winter Events & Programs

Welcome to Broadway Stages’ Spotlight, where we feature local shops, restaurants, organizations, individuals, and venues. During the month of January we are encouraging our readers to embrace the new, with fun things to learn and do right in our own city. This week we focus on our flying feathered friends!

Whether you are a veteran birder, new to bird watching, or just looking for a new way to enjoy the outdoors, NYC Audubon has something to offer you. Even in the winter, they provide local bird outings and classes. And they are already planning for the spring!

For a sixth year, NYC Audubon  will be operating a seasonal nature center from May to October, leading weekly bird outings — and bringing back the Governors Island Artist in Residence (AiR) Program. This unique and innovative program will offer three local artists space, resources, and transdisciplinary exchange opportunities to investigate birds and wildlife conservation in the context of urban natural space and public engagement. This program is a terrific way to expand NYC Audubon’s reach and engage Governors Islands hundreds of thousands of visitors with conservation.

Included below is information about the various events and opportunities offered by NYC Audubon in February and March.  Why not explore one of the City’s parks with an expert guide to marvel at the hundreds of species of birds that frequent our urban landscape, enhance your bird knowledge and birding skills with one of their virtual or in-person classes or consider becoming a volunteer.
