Spotlight | The Cut Shop

Welcome to Broadway Stages’ Spotlight, where we feature local shops, restaurants, organizations, individuals, and venues. We encourage our readers to join us in supporting these establishments and advancing local economic growth.

Every once in a while we get a recommendation from a neighbor asking us to promote a local business or organization in our spotlight series.  When we received a letter from locals Evelyn and Erica, we got to work and did some research on their recommendation. Well folks, what we found was another awesome local business providing top tier service to our community.

Cut Shop at 191 Nassau Avenue in Greenpoint hosts a team of highly skilled barbers/stylists from all walks of life. Whether you’re looking for just a little off-the-top, rockabilly pompadours, or anything in between, they’ve got you covered.

The team at Cut Shop worked together for over 10 years at the iconic Tomcats Barbershop in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. While there, they were featured in various media outlets such as the New York Times, The Daily News, and The NY Post and were voted “Top 10 Barbershops in NYC” by Time Out Magazine.

In late 2019, the out-of-state owner of Tomcats decided to close shop. While caught off-guard, this news did not deter the dedicated team of hair artisans who were determined to maintain a local presence and keep providing the professional, individualized services that their loyal customers were accustomed to.  Throughout the uncertainty, the team’s camaraderie and commitment to service remained strong!  “We are certainly sticking together and opening a shop together,” said Manny Zee at the time. Today, Manny is managing the team at Cut Shop and still cutting hair.

The team of professional barbers/stylists take great pride in their work, providing meticulous, unhurried cuts with old-school touches and clean contemporary vibes in a relaxed atmosphere, where everyone is welcome.  From old-school hair grease to the best of today’s pomade, wax, or clay, they have your look covered. Cut Shop only uses quality products like Murrays, Suavecito, Shiner Gold, and Flying Razorz (handcrafted, organic, and made in Brooklyn).

While walk-ins are welcome, appointments are best, especially for femme cuts and straight razor shaves. Open Tuesday through Sunday, you can book your appointment online here or call 347-294-0509. Follow them on Instagram and get inspired for your next hairstyle!

Broadway Stages is proud to promote local businesses and organizations that are dedicated to quality, value and community service — like Cut Shop.  Be sure to make your next hair grooming appointment at Cut Shop and when you get there, tell them that Evelyn, Erica and Broadway Stages sent you.
