The Eckford Street Studio Summer Art Workshop for Kids is underway! Brought to you by ESS Community Projects, this weekly workshop runs through the end of August. At the workshop, young artists entering kindergarten to second and third to fifth grades explore various themes through media including drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and more. Guided by teaching artists, the kids collaborate and participate in projects, gaining important artistic and life skills. More information, including the full schedule and registration link, can be found on the workshop website.

Broadway Stages is excited to show our commitment to local community education through continued support to ESS Community Projects, which brings high-quality art education to all members of the North Brooklyn community, regardless of income or experience.

It's Time to Think About Summer and Camp Brooklyn

Screenshot (118).png

The Camp Brooklyn Fund is on a mission to give kids from low-income families in Brooklyn the opportunity to attend sleep-away camp. Why you may ask? Because camp can transform lives, families, and our community. And just $750 will send one child to camp for two amazing weeks during the summer. An experience of a lifetime, camp can open up a world of opportunities and build character. Teamwork, loyalty, wholesome health habits, responsibility, personal respect, and appreciation for nature are all part of a child's education at summer camp.

Please take a few minutes to watch the 2018 Camp Brooklyn Fund video and see for yourself the impact that camp is making on our children. As a member of the board of The Camp Brooklyn Fund, Broadway Stages invites you to support our mission. Please donate today!.

NY Sun Works Youth Conference 2019

NY Sun Works (NYSW), a non-profit organization that builds innovative science labs in urban schools, held its eighth annual Youth Conference on May 20. Through its Greenhouse Project Initiative, NYSW use hydroponic farming technology to educate students and teachers about the science of sustainability. The Youth Conference offers a platform for students to share their scientific creativity while celebrating the Greenhouse Project, which promotes urban sustainability through science education and approaches sustainability science by studying the interaction between humans, technology, and the environment.

As a company committed to community, education, and environmental sustainability, Broadway Stages is proud to support this initiative and hopes that it will serve to encourage a "...generation of environmental innovators, empowered to create solutions to global resource challenges."

The New York Hall of Science in Queens was buzzing with excitement last night! Futures in Education held their Angel Program reception that was attended by hundreds of students, their families, and Angel sponsors. It was an amazing opportunity to bring the students and their donors together to meet face to face.

Broadway Stages has been a longtime supporter of the Futures in Education Angel Program that allows less fortunate children in Brooklyn and Queens to receive a Catholic education. This year, Gina Argento was the Angel to four children, subsidizing the cost of their Catholic grammar school tuition.

"It's a privilege to play a role in the lives of these children, and helping them expand their knowledge and love of learning," Gina said. The Angel Program provides access to an excellent education for those who need a helping hand."

Any family with a child or children grades K-8 registered in a Catholic elementary school or academy in Brooklyn or Queens that can demonstrate financial need of tuition assistance may apply. To learn more about Futures in Education and the Angel Program, click here.

Join Us in Donating Prom Dresses and Suits

Broadway Stages Boutique (Donations requested by May 20)
Drop Off Box Located at:
Broadway Stages
203 Meserole Ave
Brooklyn, NY 11222

For pick up request please email: monica@broadway-stages.com

It's prom season, and the Broadway Stages Boutique is open and awaiting your donations! We are looking for gently used, prom appropriate evening dresses, gowns, and men's suits. We are hoping to bring big "Brooklyn" smiles to those less fortunate who want to attend this milestone event. For many who want to go to their prom, the price of the ticket alone is too much. When you add the cost of a dress or suit and all the extras it can become completely unaffordable.

So, while you're doing your spring cleaning, please consider donating any prom appropriate attire (for women or men), that has been hiding in the back of your closet. You will be helping someone deserving to attend their prom in style.

Please contact monica@broadway-stages.com to schedule a pick up or drop off your donations at Broadway Stages headquarters located at 203 Meserole Ave., Brooklyn, NY no later than May 20, 2019.

Donations from Broadway Stages will be distributed across Brooklyn. The date and location for distribution will be provided as soon as details are finalized.

"Broadway Stages has a long history of giving back; it's just part of who we are and what we do. Our commitment to be a good neighbor means lending a helping hand whenever we can, and that's what we're doing with our prom dress and suit drive. The excitement of high school prom is something that takes us all back to a milestone moment. For those excited about attending, the challenge of affording a ticket and the required attire may prevent them from participating in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. We hope that our prom dress and suit drive will allow underprivileged young women and men to attend their prom in style. Building a sense of community and providing to those less fortunate is a passion of Broadway Stages, and we invite the community to join us by donating gently used prom style dresses and suits. Together we can help bring a smile to deserving students." - Monica Holowacz, Director of Community Relations, Broadway Stages, Ltd.

Boo! Spooktacular at the Staten Island Zoo

Hundreds of ghosts and goblins attended the 2018 Staten Island Spooktacular, Staten Island's largest Halloween themed event that took place on October 13 and 14 at Barrett Park's Staten Island Zoo in West Brighton. The two-day Halloween tradition was frighteningly fun as evidenced by the photos! Broadway Stages was thrilled to be a sponsor of the Spooktacular and thoroughly enjoyed the festivities along with its neighbors.

Broadway Stages, New York's premier film and television production company, expanded to Staten Island in 2017. As a company with roots in NYC, we understand the needs of our neighbors and the importance of giving back. We are excited to be in Staten Island and helping to make a positive impact on the individual lives of our neighbors.

Adults, children, and families of all ages are invited to join in this year's festivities. All proceeds from the event will be used to benefit the St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy, a local school with over 200 students serving grades pre-K3 through eight in the Greenpoint, Williamsburg, and Long Island City communities.
